Episode 85: Presidential Perspectives with Andrew Gale
“
Adopt a philosophy of serving. So whether it's serving a cause, serving a purpose, whether it's an organisation, whether it's an NFP, focus on the servant contribution first. And inevitably, if you do that, and if you do that with distinction, then inevitably leadership opportunities will arise.”
Andrew Gale, 2005 President of the Actuaries Institute.
Martin Mulcare asks Andrew Gale to share some lessons from his senior leadership experience, including his role as the 2005 President of the Actuaries Institute.
In this interview Andrew shares:
Why he gravitated towards the Actuaries Institute and ultimately the Presidency,
How a career defined by stepping outside comfort zones shaped his leadership approach,
What made his Presidential year unexpectedly demanding,
His overriding leadership philosophy, and
His top tip for actuaries aspiring to leadership roles.
